POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are seeking the public’s help to find the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Pompano Beach.
Officials on Friday released a flyer about last weekend’s crash that, they said, claimed the life of 44-year-old Lacurtis Knight.
According to investigators, deputies found Knight dead near Southwest 10th Drive and Seventh Avenue with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle, Sunday morning.
“Deputies responded to a call of an individual lying in the grassy swale…Injuries on the body were consistent with a possible hit-and-run or a vehicle crash,” said BSO spokesperson Miranda Grossman.
Investigators believe the crash may have happened at a different location and whoever was responsible ultimately dumped his body at the intersection.
“Through their continued investigation, they were also able to determine that the crash didn’t actually happen where the body was found. They believe it did happen somewhere else,” said Grossman.
With no trace or evidence leading back to a damaged vehicle, deputies are seeking the community’s help to bring a grieving family closure.
“Detectives need people to come forward, whether they saw the body being dropped off there at that location or perhaps there was a crash nearby,” said Grossman.
