Sunday is cut day, which is always a tough one. Hundreds of players across the NFL suddenly find themselves looking for a new opportunity.
For many, the next stop is the waiver wire. It gives teams the chance to claim players released by another club before they become free agents. Players with fewer than four credited seasons generally must go through the waiver process, while vested veterans with at least four credited seasons can typically become unrestricted free agents immediately when released.
Once a player is placed on waivers, teams have a limited amount of time to submit a claim. If multiple teams want the same player, the team with the highest waiver priority gets him.
Waiver priority is based on the NFL’s waiver order, which is determined by team records and draft position depending on the point in the season. Unlike fantasy football, teams do not automatically drop to the bottom of the list after making a successful claim. This means a team with a high waiver priority can potentially claim multiple players if it has the highest priority for each one.

Jacksonville currently has +2700 odds to win Super Bowl LXI, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Based on the Jaguars’ position in the waiver wire order, those odds might be too high.
