• I don’t mind the huge increase in people moving to this region; it’s the trillions of bugs that get me. Is this the worst summer ever for bug and flying insect infestations? Three times recently, I flicked flying roaches off my neck or arms. Tiny fruit flies, gnats and no-see-ums are all over, even on my coffee maker … and we keep this house clean!
• I’m ticked off that a person wanted at least a minimum $25-an-hour wage. The rest of us old-timers worked for whatever the minimum wage was or even less back in our youth days and we weren’t whiners or complainers. We just did it, figured out how to make ends meet and lived within our means. Like, get a grip.
• I am ticked off at crossword puzzles where the answer should be “mic” instead of “mike” for microphone. The clue: Device for play-by-play. No announcer speaks into a “mikerophone.” They speak into a “microphone”… i.e., mic. This debacle is generated by so-called wordsmiths who never sat behind a mic.
• I’m ticked off that the United Nations doesn’t recognize Taiwan as an independent nation, although it obviously is.
The flip side
• We went to breakfast at Jack & Mary’s Restaurant on the corner of Curry Ford Road and Goldenrod Road. Our meals were awesome. Good old home cookin’ with very generous portions.
