Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed that at least one person has died after a vehicle erupted in flames in southwest Miami-Dade on Saturday.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A fiery crash involving a pickup truck and a flatbed semi-truck left a man dead and shut down a portion of U.S. 1 in southwest Miami-Dade on Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP officials said the crash happened at approximately 6:37 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Southwest 184th Street.

They said a Dodge pickup truck collided with a flatbed semi-truck, igniting a small fire in the Dodge’s engine compartment.

The driver of the Dodge, a man who has not yet been identified, died at the scene, according to troopers. They said the driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

U.S. 1 is currently closed between Southwest 183rd Street and Southwest 186th Street as authorities investigate the crash.
