LOUISVILLE, Ky.––– Indiana field hockey was defeated 2-1 on Saturday afternoon against Miami (Ohio). Despite the close fight for possession between both teams, the Hoosiers record falls to 0-1 as the season opens.
KEY MOMENTS
• Third year forward Charlotte Glasper attempted back-to-back shots in the first quarter to put the Hoosiers on the board but her attempts were denied before Miami took an early opportunity for a 1-0 advantage.
• The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle on the field as Indiana fought to equalize the score. First year goal keeper Isa Smulders saw action multiple times in the first half before Miami secured the 2-0 lead going into the second half.
•The Hoosiers had back-to-back penalty corner opportunities in the second quarter but were unable to get the ball past Miami defense.
• First year midfielder Gabriela Gayayo Aranceta put IU on the board at the 43rd minute, assisted by second year back Lily Freeman on a penalty corner.
