Brighter with scattered showers to end the weekend for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia ⛅

  • August 30, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After a cloudy Saturday, the sun should break through a bit more on Sunday. A little more sun means a little more heat with highs getting into the low 90s.

Scattered rain to end the weekend

More sun and more heat also mean more scattered showers and thunderstorms Sunday. A few early morning showers along the coast. Showers and storms become scattered in after 2 p.m.

For those who are heading to the beach or coast on Sunday, waves will be manageable for the small crafts. There will be a moderate chop on the protected waters and bays. Seas 2 feet or less.

Most of the day looks good. Just watch out for some morning showers and thunder. Additional showers and storms after 7 p.m. near the Big Bend coast

Pattern shift ahead

High pressure builds in which will shift our winds from south and southeast to east. The pattern change will lead to sunny and mild mornings. Holding off showers and thunderstorms until late afternoon and evening from the Atlantic Sea Breeze.

So, on Monday will be hot and humid with partly sunny skies. Scattered storms in the afternoon. Most of the day will be dry. You will just need to dodge some late afternoon and evening showers.

The east wind flow will continue throughout the week. High moisture and the Atlantic/Bay Sea Breeze collisions will lead to scattered storms each afternoon, mainly after 4 p.m.

The late timing of showers and storms will mean HOT and humid afternoons with highs in the mid-90s through the end of the week.

Tracking the tropics

There are two areas of interest. The first is an area of low pressure and thunderstorms in the Northern Gulf. The low-level circulation is not going to be over water for a long period of time, so its window for tropical development is limited. Right now, the National Hurricane Center has a 20% chance of the storms organizing.

Another area is a tropical wave that is a cluster of thunderstorms associated with former Tropical Storm Dolly. There is a 10% chance of development over the next 7 days. If the low can get to the Bahamas, there is a chance this moisture can bring some decent downpours and disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity across central and South Florida by the middle of the week.
