Man struck by lightning while fishing in Stuart
A man was struck by lightning while fishing near SandSprit Park in Stuart, Martin County Fire Rescue said.
The incident happened about six miles offshore around 1 p.m. while three people were trolling, a fishing method where lines are slowly dragged through the water. Lightning struck their outrigger, disintegrating the rod.
The man told paramedics he felt the lightning strike hit his head.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while the two other people on board were unharmed.
