The Nationals won comfortably in the opener in a 9-2 win on Friday, and then they won a nail-biter in a 5-4 final in 10 innings in Game 2. The Nationals are now going for their fourth straight win. Washington is 65-73 with a 31-38 home record. The Marlins are trying to avoid three straight losses, and they’ve already lost four of their last five games. Miami is trying to stay above .500, with a win today coming into this game with a 68-68 record and a 26-41 mark on the road. The Marlins are now 4.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks, who hold the last NL Wild Card spot. Miami is the very slight -114 favorite to bounce back on Sunday. The Nationals will go for three-straight wins by starting Andrew Alvarez, who is 2-6 with a 3.72 ERA in 84.2 innings. Janson Junk will get the start for Miami, who is 6-8 with a 4.21 ERA in 98.1 innings.

The Nationals won Game 2 against their NL East division rivals thanks to Dylan Crews. The center fielder hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning to make the home crowd go back home happy. All runs came off of Sandy Alcantara in what was headlined as a great pitching matchup against Cade Cavalli who struck out eight batters in four scoreless innings. But the Nationals couldn’t score again until Crews’ walk-off heroics. The Marlins would then go on to score four runs in the top of the seventh. Kyle Stowers would get Miami back in the game with a two-RBI double to start the rally. Then Agustin Ramirez hit a game-tying two-run homer, but that is where Miami’s rally came to an end.
