A suspect was arrested on charges of fleeing law enforcement and child neglect on Saturday, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency was contacted to assist after a carjacking suspect in Ormond Beach reportedly fled into its jurisdiction armed with a knife and with a woman and children reportedly still in the vehicle, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.
Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, causing the driver to abandon the vehicle near a Wendy’s on Old Kings Road, the post stated. Deputies then rescued the reported victims and began their search for the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Lee Miller.
Miller was located and apprehended with assistance from a drone team, helicopter and K-9 unit, the post stated. Miller is facing charges out of Ormond Beach.
The female in the vehicle, who originally told deputies she was a victim, is also believed to be involved in the carjacking, according to the post.
The investigation is ongoing.
