19-year-old arrested after fatal Orange County hit-and-run crash, FHP says
A pickup driver ran a red light, struck a sedan and fled on foot, leaving one man dead and a woman seriously injured, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 19-year-old Orlando man was arrested after a two-vehicle crash early Sunday killed one person and seriously injured another, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 2:46 a.m. at Central Florida Parkway and International Drive in Orange County.
FHP says Christopher Laureda was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 west on Central Florida Parkway when he ran a red light and entered the path of a southbound 2025 Volkswagen Jetta. The pickup struck the left side of the sedan and overturned.
The Jetta’s driver, a 29-year-old man from Bridgeport, Connecticut, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to FHP. His name was not released.
A 23-year-old female passenger from Norwalk, Connecticut, was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert with serious injuries; her name was also not released.
FHP said Laureda fled on foot after the crash. Orange County sheriff’s deputies later found and detained him.
Laureda was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash and DUI involving death, according to FHP. Additional charges are pending.
Four passengers in the pickup suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene, FHP said.
The crash remains under investigation.
