MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (Heartland News) – A 15-year-old Florida boy was arrested after allegedly making threats online directed at McCracken County High School.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted on August 29 of a threat made toward McCracken County High School. Officials say the threat was communicated through TikTok.
McCracken County patrol deputies and detectives began an investigation. They were also in contact with the school’s police department, which also assisted in the investigation.
During the investigation, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida contacted MCSO.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the FBI alerted them, saying they tracked the IP address of the device used to make the threats.
This led officials to a 15-year-old boy in Lakeland, Florida. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the boy and said they determined that he was the one making the threats.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested the boy and charged him with Unlawful Use of a 2-way Communication Device (a level 3 felony) and Written Electronic Threat Mass Shooting/Terrorism (a level 2 felony).
Additionally, MCSO said they are filing charges for:
Terroristic Threatening, 2nd Degree (a Class D felony)Theft of Identity (a Class D felony)Harassing Communications (a Class B misdemeanor)
