A Florida teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with an online threat directed toward McCracken County High School.
The threat, which was said to be via TikTok, was first reported to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office just before 4 a.m. Saturday. Deputies and detectives, in communication with McCracken County Schools Police, opened an investigation into the threat in an attempt to locate the source. During that process, McCracken County deputies were called by Polk County, Florida deputies after the FBI tracked the IP address from the TikToker involved in the threat to Lakeland, Florida.
Polk County deputies interviewed a 15-year-old male in connection with the threats and arrested him, as they believe he was responsible.
The teen was arrested and charged in Polk County with felony written electronic threat mass shooting/terrorism and felony unlawful use of a two-way communication device. Charges pending in McCracken County include terroristic threatening, identity theft, and harassing communications.
