JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A person was injured in a shooting early Monday morning on Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded at about 2:09 a.m. near Norwood Avenue and Crestwood Street after receiving a report of a person shot. The victim was being treated for injuries, JSO said.
The suspect remains unknown. Shell casings were recovered at the scene, and the JSO Crime Scene Unit was processing the evidence.
Detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit were interviewing witnesses, canvassing for surveillance video and following up on investigative leads. The crime scene remained active, and detectives were expected to continue working in the area for several hours.
JSO said the shooting appears to be isolated. The incident does not appear to be domestic-related, and there is currently no indication it was gang-related. Detectives were still investigating whether the victim and suspect knew each other and were canvassing the area to determine whether any nearby residences or businesses were struck by gunfire.
