MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Northbound morning traffic on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was closed for a time Monday morning when a van caught fire on the bridge, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers and fire crews responded shortly before 9:30 a.m. The vehicle, a Verizon work van, caught fire near mile marker 11.
Due to extensive smoke, northbound traffic had to be shut down.
No injuries were reported. All traffic lanes were reopened shortly after the fire was out.
