A second 17-year-old suspect has been charged as an adult in connection with a violent armed robbery at a Miami-Dade McDonald’s last year, records showed.
Gabriel Amaya had been arrested back on Aug. 12 on armed robbery and armed robbery conspiracy charges, an arrest report said.
He was expected to appear in bond court Tuesday after he was charged as an adult.
Another 17-year-old, Jencarlos Gamez, had been arrested back on July 21 and was also later charged as an adult in the McDonald’s robbery and other crimes.
The McDonald’s robbery happened Dec. 13, 2025, at the fast food restaurant at 12185 Southwest 26th Street.
The victim had been convinced to enter a bathroom where the teen suspects pointed guns at him and demanded his property, the report said.
At one point, the suspects started attacking the victim, pistol-whipping him and punching him multiple times while trying to steal his bracelet and earrings, the report said.
Gamez punched the victim multiple times while demanding his property, and the third suspect held the victim down as they continued to attack him, the report said.
The victim was able to escape and run for help, and Gamez was later identified as one of the suspects, and he gave a confession to his involvement in the robbery, the report said.
Amaya was linked to the crime through a group text where the suspects orchestrated the robbery, the report said.
