1) Florida Department of Transportation revokes permits for automated license plate readers. FDOT is also blocking future requests, citing privacy concerns, reports of misuse and what it calls surveillance schemes. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office immediately suspended its use of the technology.

2) Leon County court computer failure affected more than 1,200 records in 89 seconds. Court officials are still verifying records and closing erroneous cases, including “ghost cases” that appeared on people’s records but do not actually exist.
