Barstool Sports, a media empire spanning everything from guys in baseball caps shouting about football to guys in baseball caps shouting about Sydney Sweeney’s new lingerie line, has selected St. Petersburg as the permanent home for a new NFL show.
The media company will utilize a 5,600-square-foot production space at St. Pete’s Shear Media Studios, which is located near Top Golf and was founded by lingerie mogul and ‘Space Balls’ actress Rhonda Shear.
Not a lot of details about the project are available, but according to Shear Media, Barstool plans to use the space for a “weekly professional football show,” says a press release.
Now, if we had to place a bet, which we know the Barstool fanbase clearly loves to do, it’s more than likely a show centered around Jon Gruden, since the former Tampa Bay Bucs head coach and Hooters line cook still lives in Tampa, and is already a contributor with Barstool on a show called “The Pro Football Football Show.”
But while the focus of the show is anyone’s guess, Shear Media’s press release seems to hint that Barstool is indeed looking to turn low quality podcasts into full blown shows.
“The Barstool Sports production highlights a larger shift in media and content creation. Sports shows, podcasts, creator-led series, livestreams, branded content, and recurring productions are increasingly moving into full production environments that offer more space, infrastructure, consistency, and technical support than a traditional studio rental or podcast room can provide,” reads the release.
Bartsool is no stranger to Tampa Bay. In 2024, founder Dave Portnoy, who currently has a house in the Florida Keys, toured over 20 local pizza joints for his “One Bite Pizza Reviews.”
