Hollywood police locked down a high school while investigating a threat made Tuesday morning, authorities said.
According to emergency radio communications, a call was made saying there was a Hollywood Hills High School student who was armed with two guns. The department did not immediately respond to questions from the Miami Herald.
The call came in shortly before 9 a.m.
Police searched the campus and declared the scene clear shortly before 1 p.m., said Broward County Public Schools spokeswoman Cathleen Brennan, adding students were dismissed early
“The school’s principal has remained in communication with parents and families throughout the day to keep them updated on the situation,” Brennan said.
Hollywood police released a statement saying the “the campus has been rendered safe, and there are no credible threats at this time.”
Stirling Elementary School was also locked down because of the threat, and it too has been cleared, according to the school district.
