A man who was found dead near a Pompano Beach park on Sunday morning was hit by a car, and the driver has yet to be identified, deputies said.
Just after 8 a.m., someone found the man lying on a grass swale near Fairview Park in the 700 block of Southwest 10th Drive, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday.
He has been identified as Lacurtis Knight, 44, of Tamarac. He was pronounced dead when deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives found that Knight’s injuries appeared to be from being hit by a car, the news release said. Traffic Homicide detectives searched the area, leading them to believe the crash may have happened somewhere else.
