Surveillance video has been released in an alleged anti-Semitic incident inside a Starbucks at a North Miami Beach Target store that has a woman facing charges.
Chyvonne Palmer, 43, was arrested on Aug. 2 in the incident that happened at the Target at 14075 Biscayne Boulevard, an arrest report said.
According to the report, a witness said Palmer was sitting in the Starbucks when she suddenly stood up and approached the victim who was sitting nearby and started screaming and yelling at him.
Palmer struck the man on his head and shoulder with a cell phone, then grabbed a metal chair and tried to hit him with it, repeatedly shouting “I hate them,” the report said.
The victim is Jewish and was wearing a yarmulke at the time, the report said.
Witnesses intervened to stop Palmer from hitting him with the chair and one of them directed the victim to the bathroom to avoid being attacked, the report said.
Surveillance video showed people inside the busy store and the suspect with a chair in her hands.
Palmer was later arrested on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with prejudice, and disorderly conduct.
