Two teenagers have been charged with attempted murder in a shooting that prompted a massive police response in Hialeah on Tuesday.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire at around 2:36 p.m. at the Aquabella community at 11181 West 35th Way.
Investigators determined that “the altercation began when multiple individuals met at the location to resolve an ongoing dispute through a pre-arranged physical fight,” police said.
During the fight, someone took out a handgun and fired multiple shots, authorities said.
“Witness statements and physical evidence revealed that the gunshots were directed at a victim who was fleeing on foot, as well as toward an occupied black Chevy Tahoe attempting to leave the scene,” police said.
A round did strike the driver’s side of the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.
Cellphone video captured how officers with their guns drawn detained at least two people at the scene.
Residents said investigators went from apartment to apartment looking for someone, and video also shows officers inside one woman’s home.
Officials said the suspects, who NBC6 is not identifying because they are minors and not charged as adults, were arrested Wednesday morning. They are both 17 years old.
The teens face felony charges of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon/firearm and shooting/throwing a deadly missile.
