Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. (KLCB) is calling on residents, visitors, businesses, schools and community groups to make a difference by participating in the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) on Saturday, Sept. 19, at cleanup sites across Lee County. As the local coordinator for Ocean Conservancy’s global initiative, KLCB is proud to organize and unite volunteers in this community.
Now in its 37th year in Lee County, the International Coastal Cleanup is one of the world’s largest volunteer efforts dedicated to removing litter from coastlines and waterways. Every year, millions of volunteers around the globe come together to collect trash, record the items they find, and help advance solutions that protect marine life and create healthier communities.
“The International Coastal Cleanup is a reminder that caring for our environment starts with each of us,” said Trish Fancher, executive director of Keep Lee County Beautiful. “When we work together to protect our coastlines and waterways, we create lasting change for our community and the wildlife that depends on these habitats.”
Whether you’re volunteering as an individual, family, business, or civic group, every piece of litter collected makes a difference. Cleanup sites are available throughout Lee County, and pre-registration is required. Additional sites are being finalized.
