  • November 8, 2025

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – Four people are dead, and eleven others injured after a driver crashed into a crowd of pedestrians earlier Saturday morning in Ybor City, according to Tampa Police.

Investigators say the crash happened around 12:40 a.m. along the 1500 block of East 7th Avenue. Police say the driver was speeding and refused to stop for officers. The vehicle eventually lost control, slammed into multiple pedestrians, and came to stop near Nebraska Avenue.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Dallas Sampson from Denver, was arrested at the scene. Three victims died there, while a fourth victim died at the hospital. Another victim remains in critical condition, and eight others are being treated at local hospitals but are currently listed as stable.

Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement that both the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol are committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families.

The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Updates will be provided as they become available.
