A Broward County Public Schools assistant principal was arrested Sunday in Weston in connection with an off-campus domestic violence incident.
Marc Horowitz, 53, is charged with robbery by sudden snatching and domestic violence battery, records show. He was being held with bond to be set at the Broward Main Jail.
Horowitz, who is an assistant principal at Orange Brook Elementary School in Hollywood, has been “reassigned from the school following an off-campus incident, pending further Human Resources review and action, which may include termination,” BCPS spokesperson John J. Sullivan told the Miami Herald.
Horowitz’s arrest stemmed from a disturbance call, said Gerdy St. Louis, a spokesperson with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Deputies went to a location near the 16000 block of Southwest Fifth Way in Weston shortly after midnight on Friday.
He is accused of physically assaulting an adult and snatching a cellphone, St. Louis said. Authorities didn’t identify the victim.
“Broward County Public Schools holds its school leaders to the highest standards of professional conduct and takes matters that may fall short of those standards seriously,” Sullivan said in a statement.
