A couple is facing charges in Florida after authorities said four children were sexually battered and molested while they were held captive in a semi-truck for more than six years.

Tamra Marshon Stewart, 37, of Jacksonville, and Keysha Monique Epps, 51, of Atlanta, are facing multiple charges in Orange County, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said Tuesday.

“This case is one of, if not the most horrific, that my team has ever had to work on,” Uthmeier said at a news conference.

Authorities said Epps, a commercial truck driver, and Stewart were the primary caregivers of the four children, two girls and two boys, who lived with them in the sleeper cab of Epps’ truck as she traveled frequent routes between Atlanta and Miami.

Were denied basic care

From January 2020 through April 2026, the children, two 5-year-olds, a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old, had to share a single bunk in the truck and were denied adequate food, hygiene, schooling and medical care, authorities said.

Two of them suffered untreated burns that left significant scarring, and one child was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection after leaving their custody, officials said.

The two girls told investigators Stewart sexually abused them for years, while the two boys said they witnessed the abuse and were beaten after confronting Stewart and reporting it to Epps.

Failing to stop it or report it

Epps is accused of knowing about the abuse but failing to stop it or report it.

While speaking with investigators, Stewart admitted to three sexual batteries against one of the girls, including an incident in Orlando, authorities said.

According to Uthmeier, the children were routinely left locked inside what he described as a “rolling dungeon” while the adults stopped at truck stations.

Charges the couple is facing

Stewart is charged with two counts of sexual battery by a person in familial or custodial authority, two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12, two counts of battery of a child by expelling certain fluids or materials, two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, and two counts of child neglect causing permanent disfigurement.

Epps is charged with two counts of sexual battery by a person in familial or custodial authority, two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12, two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, two counts of child neglect causing permanent disfigurement, and four counts of failure to report child abuse.

More charges could be filed as the investigation continues, authorities said.

“These children were trapped in a rolling prison and abused by the adults who were supposed to protect them,” Uthmeier said in a statement. “Florida has zero tolerance for anyone who preys on children. We will seek the maximum punishment under the law.”
