Universal Studios Orlando to close ‘Animal Actors on Location!’ show
Universal Studios Orlando is set to close an opening-day attraction after 36 years
Universal Studios Orlando has confirmed that its “Animal Actors on Location!” show will close after 36 years.
The opening-day attraction, which debuted on June 7, 1990, will close on Nov. 2.
Chopper 2 flew above the show, which has been a staple of the park since its opening. Once it closes, the E.T. Adventure will be the only remaining opening-day attraction.
“It was very popular in the ’90s, but I think that the audience size has certainly waned in recent years, so it’s not necessarily surprising,” said Alicia Stella, owner of OrlandoParkStop. “But there are only a few live shows left at the resort, and all of them at Universal Studios Florida, and none at Islands of Adventure.”
In a statement to WESH 2 News, Universal Studios said the closure is to make way for a new experience, adding, “We are grateful for the countless memorable moments. More details about the future development will be shared at a later time.”
