A fight at a park in Oakland Park left a student hospitalized and led to a school lockdown Thursday morning, authorities said.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. when Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said they received reports of students fighting at Wimberly Fields Park near the 3900 block of Northeast 3rd Avenue.

Deputies responded and found a student who’d been knocked unconscious during the fight, and fire rescue brought the student to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators quickly learned the students involved attend Rickards Middle School, and that the other students had been brought to the school by bus after the fight.

Deputies responded to the school, which was placed on lockdown while they searched for the other students involved in the fight.

The students were found and detained, and the lockdown was lifted, officials said.

An investigation was ongoing.
