Separate reported threat incidents lead to investigations at 2 Hollywood schools – NBC 6 South Florida

Two separate incidents involving a reported threat and a threatening gesture made by a student led to investigations at two Hollywood schools.

Hollywood Hills High School was placed on secure status Thursday while Hollywood Police investigated a reported threat, Broward County Public Schools officials said.

The school was operating on its normal schedule, and students and staff were safe, officials said.

A separate investigation was happening at Hollywood Central Preparatory K-8.

District officials said on Wednesday, while the school was notifying parents of two students involved in a dispute, one parent reported information about a possible verbal threat made toward her child.

The allegation was immediately investigated by school administrators and law enforcement, and it was determined that no verbal threat had been made but that the student in question had made a threatening gesture toward the other student, officials said.

The student responsible is receiving appropriate school disciplinary consequences.
