MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — A passenger was arrested at Miami International Airport Monday after authorities said he claimed he had a bomb while preparing to board a flight to Cuba.

WSVN reported that 33-year-old Yoel Guevara-Crespo was boarding American Airlines Flight 1319 from Miami to Camagüey on Monday morning when an airline employee asked standard security questions about lithium batteries or incendiary devices.

According to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest report cited by WSVN, Guevara-Crespo said he did not have either item but said he had a bomb.

The employee told him he would not be allowed to fly and that a supervisor would be contacted. Guevara-Crespo then said he was joking, according to the report.

A K-9 swept his luggage and found nothing suspicious, allowing the airline to resume normal operations.

Guevara-Crespo was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces a second-degree felony charge of making a false report about placing a bomb or explosive.

A judge found probable cause during a Tuesday bond court hearing and set his bond at $2,500, WSVN reported.
