Innocence Project of Florida holds open house for new headquarters

  • November 8, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Innocence Project of Florida held an open house for their new headquarters to inform the community of their services.

The non-profit organization helps innocent prisoners in Florida get their freedom and said that in their 22 years, they have helped free 36 men and women who were wrongfully convicted. One of them was their paralegal Stephanie Spurgeon, who said she was the first woman they freed.

“It took them five and a half years to free me, but eventually I made it to the other side,” Spurgeon said.

Organizers at the Innocence Project of Florida said they’re in a period of growth and are currently adding more lawyers, social workers and investigators to continue serving the community.
