Wilson understands the pressures and stresses of weddings and ensures that brides have a calm and stress-free experience.
Wilson has been working with brides since 1996 and has an extensive 30-year career in the makeup industry. She began by working at a Clinique counter and has worked for big industry names including Bobbi Brown. She has worked on national television, commercial campaigns and personal branding shoots. She is the co-owner of Studio Edison in the Riverside/Brooklyn area, which she opened with her friend and photographer, Julie Ryan, three years ago. Wilson has a curated line of high-performance makeup products and brushes. She also offers makeup lessons at her studio to help clients find personalized looks for every day and special occasions.
When asked about current bridal makeup styles, Wilson said that classic and natural looks are trending — think blushing bride. Brides are highlighting clean and glowing skin instead of caking on layers of foundation. Light layers of makeup can help brides to feel fresher and more awake without drastically changing their appearance on their wedding day. Wilson has always been a fan of natural looks and loves helping brides feel pretty and confident in their own skin.
Wilson knows how important it is for brides to feel relaxed and comfortable on their big day. When brides hire her, Wilson schedules a makeup trial about a month before the wedding to make sure that they love their bridal look. On the wedding day, Wilson travels to the venue. She matches the energy of the room and does whatever she can to help the bride get ready in a peaceful environment.
