JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – One person has been taken into custody in connection to a rape investigation in Jacksonville, authorities announced Thursday.
According to police, the Jacksonville State University Police Department began an investigation after they received a report of a rape that happened at the Delta Chi House in Nov. 2025.
After finishing their investigation, officials said the findings were presented to the District Attorney’s Office for the 7th Judicial Circuit for review and prosecutorial consideration.
Officials said a Calhoun County grand jury subsequently returned an indictment against a former Jacksonville State student.
Authorities said the person, who is no longer a student at Jacksonville State, was taken into custody Sept. 1, 2026 by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office pursuant to the indictment.
