ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — St. Petersburg police announced Friday that they arrested a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash with the help of Flock license plate readers.
According to police, Ashleigh Az’Janae Zinn was driving a red Kia Forte south on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South near 15th Avenue South on Aug. 8 when she hit a woman walking in a marked crosswalk near 15th Avenue South.
Investigators said Zinn struck the 47-year-old woman and left without stopping to help or call for assistance.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Investigators said they used Flock license plate readers to locate Zinn after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Zinn and booked her into the Hillsborough County Jail.
She is awaiting extradition to the Pinellas County Jail to face a charge of failure to stop or remain at a crash involving death.
