GCG Week 2: Oasis-Mariner matchup canceled after storms sweep through Southwest Florida
The Sharks and Tritons were set to meet for the first time Friday night, but lightning and heavy rain forced the anticipated Week 2 matchup to be called off.

Oasis and Mariner will have to wait a little longer to make some program history.
The Sharks and Tritons were scheduled to meet for the first time Friday night, but a night that began with lightning delays eventually turned into torrential rain across parts of Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
There was plenty of anticipation surrounding the Week 2 matchup. The parking lot at Mariner was packed well before the scheduled kickoff as both programs looked to build on eventful season openers.
Oasis entered the night 1-0 after rallying in the second half to defeat Southwest Florida Christian 18-14. Sophomore running back Cameron Hill rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, including the go-ahead score.
Mariner was looking to bounce back after nearly overcoming an early 17-point deficit in its opener against Wellen Park. Senior Jamarion Corbett provided a spark for the Tritons with 95 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just four carries in the 24-21 loss.
But before either team could write the first chapter of this new matchup, Mother Nature had other plans.
After an extended lightning delay and increasingly heavy rain, the game was ultimately canceled.
