Last weekend, Donalds’ tour stopped in Doral and included his newly minted running mate, Bryan Ávila.
Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for Florida Governor and a current U.S. Representative, will meet with voters in Tampa this weekend as part of Donalds’ “Defending the Florida Dream Tour.”
Donalds will participate in a Q&A with Tampa Bay area veterans as part of the stop Saturday, at 6207 S. Dale Mabry Blvd. in Tampa. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. for the event that starts at 2.
Donalds kicked off the “Defending the Florida Dream” tour in April. The statewide tour is designed to tackle the issues that matter most to Floridians, according to Donalds’ campaign. Donalds has also used events to offer “a roadmap for protecting the Florida Dream and making it attainable for the next generation.”
Previous events have addressed other pocketbook issues, such as insurance premiums, property taxes and hidden government fees that continue to “squeeze” household budgets. Donalds has also addressed public safety, education, including school choice and parental rights, and expanding economic opportunities in the state.

Donalds selected Ávila as his running mate last week, kicking off a General Election campaign that will see the pair square off against Democrat David Jolly and running mate Gwen Graham in November.
Ávila has already resigned from the Senate, where he was known for putting muscle behind a series of high-profile bills: the “Stop WOKE Act” in 2022; the “Halo bill,” which established a 25-foot buffer zone around first responders; and a new statute, effective July 1, banning localities from promoting “net zero” emission policies.
Donalds and Jolly both emerged victorious last month in their respective Primaries.
