Funnel cloud spotted near Fort Caroline in Duval County

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – A funnel cloud was spotted near the Fort Caroline area of Duval County Friday evening, prompting a flurry of social media posts and viewer submissions to News4JAX.

Several images of the funnel cloud surfaced on social media around 7 p.m. Viewers also shared images and video directly with News4JAX.

One viewer says he spotted the funnel cloud around 7:10 p.m., several miles east of the Alta Lakes subdivision. Other viewers reported seeing the funnel cloud near Heckscher Drive and the Wonderwood area.

The National Weather Service has not confirmed a tornado.
