Car crashes into vacant Cape Coral building, damaging former Pizza Hut
CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A car crashed into a vacant building on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral on Wednesday, leaving behind significant damage to a former Pizza Hut.
Neighbors in the area said the building has been vacant for the last few years.
Ron Pentiuk, a Cape Coral resident, shared his reaction to the crash.
“Unbelievable that went right through there,” Pentiuk said.
Video footage of the incident taken Wednesday morning shows a Volkswagen Buggy lodged inside the building. The Pizza Hut has been closed since 2020, and neighbors like Pentiuk are trying to understand how the car ended up on the side of the structure.
“I looked for skid marks and stuff, and I didn’t see any. They must have lost control somehow,” Pentiuk said.
The crash occurred on Del Prado Boulevard just before Coronado Parkway.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department on Friday, there were no serious injuries and the city code enforcement responded to assess the building damage.
