Upon arrival, officers discovered that an active grenade was mixed in with a batch of recent thrift store donations.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene and confirmed the grenade was real before safely removing it, according to police.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the grenade, though officers say they do not believe the incident was intentional and there is no active threat to the public.
