Miami Gardens, Fla. — Syracuse will be without veteran offensive lineman TJ Ferguson on Saturday when it faces the ACC’s best defense.
Ferguson left the Orange’s most recent game against North Carolina with an injury. He currently owns the second-best Pro Football Focus grade among SU offensive linemen who have received regular playing time this season.
Ferguson’s injury last week forced the Orange to use an injured Austin Collins at center against the Tar Heels. Collins played hurt and was ineffective.
Collins was listed on the Orange’s availability report as questionable for most of this week but was listed as available for Saturday’s game.
Starting guard Joe Cruz worked as SU’s first-string center during the pre-game warm-ups, an indication that Collins probably will not start the game and the Orange will be down a second starter to open the game. Collins did go through warm-ups with the Orange.
Three of SU’s starting offensive linemen had appeared on the availability report during the week with Trevion Mack joining Ferguson and Collins at one point.
