PORT ST. LUCIE – Although a ribbon cutting or grand opening ceremony has not been scheduled yet, Phase 1 of Tradition Regional Park should be opening sometime in 2026.

“We don’t have an exact date yet, but it will be open this year, most likely late November,” said Mayor Shannon Martin.

The park, located on Tradition Parkway between the Renaissance schools and the Fern Lake Roundabout, is a 110-acre park with plans calling for baseball, softball, soccer and multi-purpose fields.

One of the most exciting features, though, is the BMX track. According to the city’s website, the state-of-the-art track has been in the planning since spring 2022, when USA BMX and the City of Port St. Lucie engaged in discussions during a feasibility study for a park project that would include a BMX track.

“I think the BMX park is going to be amazing,” Martin said. “People will really enjoy it because it’s something different than we’ve ever had before.”

The BMX Park will include a racetrack facility, pump track and bicycle safety learning facility.

The addition will give residents another option for outdoor recreation and provide a place for both experienced riders and those new to the sport. The pump track will allow riders to practice skills and navigate a series of turns, rollers and other features without a traditional BMX race.

The bicycle safety learning area also will provide an opportunity for children and families to practice safe riding skills in a controlled environment.

With its combination of athletic fields and cycling facilities, the park is expected to serve a wide range of recreational needs. The fields will provide space for organized sports, practices and community activities, while the BMX facilities will offer something not currently available at other city parks.

As development continues throughout the Tradition area, the new regional park is expected to become an important recreational destination for nearby residents and sports organizations.

The opening of Phase 1 in late 2026 will mark the first major step in bringing the long-planned park to life.
