TREASURE COAST ── Twenty-five years ago we promised to never forget the day that changed the country.

In 2026, let’s honor the victims, their families, and the first responders, who left an enduring legacy of strength, courage, and unity.

Several memorial events are being held across the Treasure Coast:

Fort Pierce

Remembrance Ceremony and Memorial Service: 9:45 -11 a.m., Sept 11, at Veterans Memorial Park, 600 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce.

The program will include a Ceremonial Wreath Presentation; Voices of Remembrance; Recognition of First Responders and Military Members; a Scholarship Presentation; a Three-Volley Salute; Taps; an Amazing Grace Performance; and a special tribute to Fort Pierce native CeeCee Ross Lyles, a flight attendant aboard United Airlines Flight 93, whose courage and legacy remain an important part of our community’s history.

Port St. Lucie

Annual Remembrance Ceremony: 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., Sept 11 at the Memorial Fountain of the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 S.E. Event Center Place in Port St. Lucie.

This annual ceremony honors the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, offers our community a meaningful space for reflection, unity, and tribute to our nation’s enduring resilience.

Palm City

9/11 Memorial Tribute Ceremony: 7 p.m., Sept. 11 outside the Peter & Julie Cummings Library, 2551 SW Matheson Avenue in Palm City. The event will include posting of the colors, music and bagpipers, a candle lighting ceremony, wreath laying and guest speakers.

Sebastian

Patriot Day Observance Ceremony: 8:30 a.m., Sept. 11 at the Veterans Memorial in Riverview Park, 600 U.S. 1 in Sebastian.

Stuart

9/11 Bridge Walk: City of Stuart First Responders will walk the Roosevelt Bridge at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 11 and the public is encouraged to join them. Participants will gather at 8 a.m. near the basketball court at Flagler Park, 201 SW Flagler Ave. The walk will be a 3.43‑mile route, turning around at North River Shores Boulevard.

Tradition

United We Remember 9/11 Memorial Run & Walk: Sept. 12 at 10807 SW Tradition Square in Port St. Lucie. A 3.43-mile timed run/walk, family-friendly atmosphere, with food trucks and vendors, hosted by the St. Lucie County Firefighters Benevolent Association. Same day registration opens at 7 a.m.

Vero Beach

The Tunnel to Towers Vero Beach 5K Run & Walk, held in Vero on Sept. 5, is an annual event that honors and supports first responders and military service members.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a charitable organization founded in tribute to New York Fire Department firefighter Stephen Siller, who was killed on Sept. 11, 2001, during the Sept. 11 attacks.
