TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Three people, including teenagers, are behind bars in connection with a shooting in the parking garage of Governor’s Square Mall Saturday, according to Tallahassee Police.
The trio was located at a separate address in Tallahassee by TPD’s Violent Crime Response Team (VCRT) following the shooting and taken into custody without incident. Marvin Gilkes, 15, was arrested for the shooting and officers also arrested Ronderick Troupe, 18 and a 14-year-old on firearm, probation and drug charges.
TPD’s investigation revealed that Gilkes shot at a vehicle with people inside who were allegedly involved in an “earlier altercation with him inside the mall.” Another vehicle with a family inside that was not involved in the dispute was also fired at.
TPD said no one in either vehicle was injured. Officers also found firearms, some of which were reported stolen, along with drugs during the investigation.
Gilkes was charged with discharging a firearm at an occupied conveyance, possession of a firearm by a delinquent and four counts of probation violation. Troupe was charged with possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis, possession of a machine gun and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The 14-year-old minor was charged with a probation violation.
Chief Lawrence Revell said the arrests come due to the work of detectives.
“Violent crime can have a devastating impact on victims and our community as a whole. Our officers will continue following the evidence wherever it leads, holding those who commit crimes accountable and removing illegally possessed firearms from our streets,” Revell said.
