TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A 93-year-old woman woke up to find a stranger standing at the foot of her bed inside her Florida apartment, according to deputies.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30.
According to detectives, the victim initially believed the man, identified as 24-year-old Connor Norcross, was her grandson. She called him over but quickly realized he was a stranger.
The woman told Norcross she needed to get up and take her medication. Norcross allegedly rubbed her arm and told her he could get the medication for her. The victim then told Norcross he needed to leave.
Investigators said Norcross exited through the apartment’s rear sliding glass door. Shortly afterward, he returned and tried to enter through the front door, but it was locked.
Detectives identified Norcross using security footage from the apartment complex.
Norcross was arrested Sept. 1 and is charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and battery of a victim over 65.
