LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — Southwest Florida International Airport saw a steady flow of passengers taking advantage of the long holiday weekend to travel.
WINK News spoke to travelers at RSW, where lines remained manageable, and passengers moved through without delays. Some travelers said they were heading home after vacationing in Southwest Florida over the weekend.
“Surprisingly, travel hasn’t been too bad,” one traveler said. “We flew in from Manchester, New Hampshire, earlier this week on Breeze. We’re heading back home today, regrettably. We really wish we could stay longer. We’ll be back after the first of the year, though.”
Travelers said their experience at the airport went smoothly. “Pretty easy lines, no problem at all, and we were worried about it because we have the dogs with us and thought it might be more difficult than it was,” a traveler said. “But it wasn’t difficult at all.”
“So far it’s good,” another traveler said. “I don’t see a lot of people today. It’s kind of empty. I’m surprised.”
RSW is one of the top 50 airports in the United States for passenger traffic. Some passengers noticed an increase in crowds compared to typical travel days.
“I have noticed,” a traveler said. “Usually, like there’s only like two people, and I’m like, why are there so many people today?”
Travelers are reminded to arrive at least two hours early, give themselves plenty of time to park and monitor their flight for delays or changes.
