Man, 76, killed after being hit by multiple cars on SR-535 in Orange County
A 76-year-old Orlando man was killed after he was hit by multiple cars Monday morning on Apopka Vineland Road (SR-535) in Orange County, FHP says.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 6 a.m. on Apopka Vineland Road south of Palm Parkway.
Troopers say the man walked into the southbound lanes of Apopka Vineland Road outside of a marked crosswalk.
FHP says he walked in front of a 2015 Nissan Altima and the front, right side of that car hit him, throwing him into the outside lane, where he was then hit again by the undercarriage of a 2013 Nissan Cube.
The Nissan Altima driver and passenger, as well as the Nissan Cube driver, were not injured.
FHP said the Nissan Altima driver reported that a third car, possibly a white SUV, also hit the 76-year-old before leaving the scene.
Investigators say the Nissan Cube driver initially left the scene but later returned. The vehicle had undercarriage damage consistent with the crash.
The 76-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information about the crash or the possible white SUV is asked to contact FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
