Jacksonville union workers speak on labor issues on Labor Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville union workers and other officials on Monday held a press conference on what they called issues facing working people.

The press conference is organized by the North Florida Central Labor Council and the North Florida Future Labor Leaders.

Local politicians, union officers, and rank-and-file workers are expected to speak outside of City Hall on “the current issue facing the labor movement and working people.”

“Workers continue to be squeezed harder and harder by cost of living, the job market, and the economy as a whole,” the North Florida Future Labor Leaders said. “Florida legislatures continue to push anti-union bills, with a particular aim at weakening public-sector unions, specifically teachers’ unions.”
