Authorities responded after several vehicles were broken into in a gated community in northwest Miami-Dade early Thursday.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at around 2:52 a.m. to the Corinthians Apartments off of Northwest 22nd Avenue near 79th Street in the Gladeview neighborhood.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that several vehicles in a gated community were burglarized by an unknown subject(s),” authorities said.
Video shows several cars with the windows smashed, surrounded by glass and debris.
Some residents said they were woken up on by officers who gave them the news.
“We haven’t had this situation before, so it’s pretty scary to see this. It’s about 20 different cars in total. We had some of our baby’s stuff stolen from the car, which is unfortunate,” one man said.
MDSO confirmed an investigation is underway.
