JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A holiday tradition in Jacksonville is set to be out of this world with news that Astronaut Christina Koch is scheduled to have a big role.
The Onslow County Chamber of Commerce says that Koch, who grew up in Jacksonville and attended White Oak High School, will be the grand marshal for this year’s Christmas holiday parade.
Koch has completed two space missions, with the most recent and history-making moment being her Artemis II trip around the moon that saw humans reach the farthest they had ever been from Earth.
Koch was recently at her alma mater, N.C. State University, where she delivered a speech to students there.
This year’s parade theme is “A Star Spangled Christmas: Celebrating 250 Years of America.”
The parade takes place November 21st.
WITN is a proud sponsor of the Jacksonville Christmas Holiday Parade.
