TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) College of Pharmacy is giving away free health screenings and vaccines Wednesday as part of a weeklong 75th anniversary celebration.
The school paired a community health fair with its Diamond Jubilee, offering free resources while connecting with the public.
The Future RX summit was held Wednesday and brought out alumni, pharmacists and health professionals. They came to show students career paths behind the white coat.
There were DJs, food trucks, free health screenings and vaccines. Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Vanessa B. Sheppard, said events like this matter for students and the community.
We have our pharmacists who are clinicians, who are providing care. And we have our population and public health students and learners who are thinking about how do we take all that we learn and implement in the community, and that’s what you’re going to experience today when you come. So, it’s free! We want people to live healthier longer lives, and that’s what we’re here for
More events are planned for the rest of the week, including a research showcase Thursday and an alumni Mentorship Day Friday. The Dean is urging the community to take advantage of the free resources while they last.
The celebration wraps up Saturday with the 75th anniversary Gala that is already sold out.
