JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) –The Jacksonville Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO) launched their new Infill Workforce Housing Program (IWHP) on Wednesday.
The initiative is designed to support increased construction of single-family homes on vacant lots in the Jacksonville city limits.

The IWHP gives qualifying home builders and developers working inside the city limits a reimbursement incentive of up to $10,000 after construction is complete. In order to obtain the refund construction must be done, the city must issue a certificate of occupancy and the home must be sold to a primary-residence homebuyer.
“Jacksonville has a real need for workforce housing, and we have lots sitting vacant in established neighborhoods that are ready to be built on,” JEDCO president said. “This program was created to make it easier to build on those lots and reward the builders who are willing to invest in our community.”
JEDCO said in order to qualify homes must:
Be at least 1,100 square feet
Sold to a primary-residence homebuyer
“We have the demand. We have the lots. We need the builders,” Pace said. “If you build in East Texas, I want to talk to you.”
Builders can get reimbursed for up top 10 homes per fiscal year. To learn more about the IWHP visit JEDCO online.
